Robots

ARI

ARI is a high-performance social and collaborative robot designed for a wide range of multimodal expressive gestures and behaviours, making it the ideal humanoid robot and suitable for Human-Robot-Interaction, perception, cognition, navigation, and interaction. Its behaviour can be customized using the provided, easy to use, web interface.

Pepper

Pepper is the world’s first social humanoid robot able to recognise faces and basic human emotions. Pepper was optimised for human interaction and is able to engage with people through conversation and his touch screen.

Nao

NAO, the first robot from SoftBank Robotics, is used as an assistant by companies and healthcare centers to welcome, inform and entertain visitors. It has 25 degrees of freedom, seven touch sensors, four directional microphones, speech recognition and dialogue available in 20 languages, two x 2D cameras and an open, full programmable platform.

Furhat

A groundbreaking social robot utilising the latest advancements in technology and conversational AI. Furhat’s expressibility and customisability enables unlimited opportunities for research and development in social robotics. The face of Furhat is animated in Unity, a state-of-the-art 3D animation engine. Face skins (textures) are created using industry standard graphical design tools together with a system of character parameters for changing the geometry of the face. A variety of masks are available including adult, child and Furhat uses computer vision to track multiple users in real-time, do facial expression analysis, estimate head pose and user distance.

Toyota Human Support Robot

Best described as a robotised ‘butler’ designed to assist around the home, the Toyota Human Support Robot, or HSR for short, can be operated by voice command or by tablet computer, or it can recognise surroundings to move by itself. It has a lightweight cylindrical body with an extendable folding arm that enables it to pick up objects off the floor, suction up thin objects, retrieve objects from high locations, open curtains, and perform other household tasks. HSR has omni-directional wheels, enabling it to move smoothly in any direction.
